Determining Whole Grain-Rich Items in School Meals Online Training.

By completing this interactive module, you will learn why whole grains are critical to children's health, learn about the whole grain-rich requirements, learn how to identify whole grain-rich products for school breakfast and lunch, and access resources to support the whole grain requirements.
Resources are referenced throughout the training. You will need the following handouts for the training activities: List of Whole Grains and Noncreditable Grains and Whole Grain Resource for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs (page 5). Please be sure to access them prior to beginning the training.
NEW! On May 22, 2017, the U.S. Department of Agriculture issued Policy Memorandum SP 32-2017: School Meal Flexibilities for School Year 2017–18 to allow options for the whole grain-rich, sodium limits, and low-fat flavored milk requirements. You can download the policy memo from the U.S. Department of Agriculture School Meals Policy Web page.

This training takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please allow enough time to complete the training in one sitting. At the end of the training, you will take a short quiz followed by a training evaluation. You will then have access to a printable training certificate of completion for your records.
