Foundations of Nutrition: 2015–2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans

Welcome to the California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division Foundations of Nutrition: 2015–2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans online training.

By completing this interactive module, you will learn about the purpose of the Dietary Guidelines and how the key recommendations help Americans create a healthy diet and active lifestyle. You will gain an understanding of the guidelines and access lessons and resources to put these guidelines into action in the classroom. Resources to help transfer the concepts and key messages to students through classroom events and activities are referenced throughout the training. You will need the following handouts for the training activities:
10 Tips: Be Active Adults, 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines, Choose MyPlate Tracker, Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2015–2020, Healthy Classroom Celebrations. Please be sure to access the handouts prior to beginning the training.
This training takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please allow enough time to complete the training in one sitting. At the end of the training, you will take a short quiz followed by a training evaluation. You will then have access to a printable training certificate of completion for your records.
