COVID-19 Child Nutrition Programs Meal Pattern Waiver

|The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued policy guidance flexibility allowing program operators of the following programs to request waivers for the requirement to serve meals that meet the mandated meal pattern during the public health emergency due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).|
|Note that as a result of the Appropriations Act of 2021, flavored 1% milk may be served without a waiver through September 30, 2021.|
|Approved meal pattern waivers are valid through September 30, 2021 for the following Child Nutrition Programs (CNP): |
- School Breakfast Program (SBP)
- National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
- Seamless Summer Option (SSO)
|Approved meal pattern waivers are valid through June 30, 2021 for the following CNPs: |
- Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
|You are required to answer all questions in this application unless they are noted as optional. This application must be completed and submitted online prior to adopting the flexibilities allowed under the waiver. |
If you previously applied for a waiver, you do not need to submit another waiver unless you have additional meal pattern requirements that need to be waived, or you need a waiver for a different CNP.

All normal SFSP meal pattern requirements will resume as of July 1, 2021.

A new CDE CACFP meal pattern waiver application covering the period of July 1, 2021, through December 30, 2022 will be available by mid-June.
